I wonder if the usage of mobile navigation will increase Alzheimers for our generations.

When driving I either now the way or use maps, there is rarely any guesswork or active thinking involved, maybe running is helping but even there I sometimes run routes navigated by watch.



Purely anecdotal, but I experimented with getting rid of my phone entirely for 6 months (using VoIP on my laptop for calls and text), which meant I had to plan my route ahead of time using online maps (OsmAnd). I found that my short-term memory improved noticeably and I could easily recall 10 digit numbers I just saw briefly.
